My Info graphic
For this project we had to make a colourful, neat, visual representation of the book we read. I read "Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone". Immediately when I started reading I pictured a time in the past, as there were lots of old expressions and terms that one would only have said long ago. I tried to represent this by using older tones of colour, and to do that I thought about what older colours really were. I pictured an old book with a yellowish tinge on each page, because it hadn't been read for years. So I adopted the yellow background tone on the infographic. After this I thought about a colour scheme that would match this tint of yellow that was now my background, I remembered that most things were built of wood and stone in the past (Just like Hogwarts the school Harry eventually went to), so I used brown and black as they matched the yellow quite nicely. Once I started I was looking at it and I thought it really needed something more, more magical and mystical just like the magic Harry was learning. I searched up "Magic" on google and lots of purple flooded my vision, so I went to the colour palette and found a darker shade of purple that fit just right. Finally my infographic had a perfect colour arrangement. I then added a few images that showed what the book was about, I added a few bugs to represent Hogwarts(Setting), a snake to represent Slytherin(antagonist's), and a magic wand to represent the magical story that it is, and voila! It looked great!
Why you should definitely read Harry Potter: The Philosophers Stone
I would strongly recommend this story to another person. It has all the characteristics of a perfectly written, well rounded story.
First off, Without reading this book you could easily tell that it was a story that many people enjoyed as there have been 7 books and movies produced because of the pure enjoyment of the previous readers, nobody would waste millions of dollars screening 7 movies and writing a 7 book series unless they knew it would work out in the end, People just love Harry potter! The first real characteristic that J.K Rowling incorporated into this story was humor. whether it was cleverly placed, or blatantly stated she really knows how to make her readers crack up inside, for example "Aunt Petunia often said that Dudley looked like a baby angel – Harry often said that Dudley looked like a pig in a wig." Another characteristic that J.K Rowling inserted into this novel was a well thought out plot. If you go through the story step by step it is very easy to define the different parts of the plot. The inciting incident is clearly stated to be when Harry gets the opportunity to go to Hogwarts because if he hadn't got that letter he'd still be in the little cupboard at the Dudley's house on Privet Drive. The Rising action, Climax, Etc. are clearly stated just like the inciting incident. The last characteristic that J.K Rowling put into this story is just the extensive detail and imagery in every sentence, every line you read you feel more immersed into the story itself. A perfect example of this would be "Harry was frying eggs by the time Dudley arrived in the kitchen with his mother. Dudley looked a lot like Uncle Vernon. He had a large, pink face, not much neck, small, watery blue eyes and thick, blond hair that lay smoothly on his thick, fat head." The detail in that sentence alone is enough to make you feel like you are actually in the story itself. These are only a few of the characteristics that are presented in this story, and this is why I would definitely recommend this story to another person.
